BEATTYVILLE KENTUCKY
|
On our most recent trip, we went to Beattyville Kentucky. There were three homes in need of desperate help. The first home was a relative of the woman who started the Kentucky Cornerstone Mission. They help out the local area with a food pantry and try to find help for some of those in need. Fr. Mark Hoying had worked with them in the past while at his former parish.
The first home needed the most help as the roof leaked and created a large bad spot in the plaster. The bathroom floor was rotten and the doors were in very bad condition. Before we arrived to help fix these issues, the stove caught fire and filled the house with smoke. The second home was in need of a new roof on a section of the house and needed two windows replaced. The third house was in need of paint to seal out the elements. We also cut and removed many trees that were in her way. The team of 12 volunteers were able to repair and paint all three homes in just 3 days. They did a wonderful job and the people we helped thanked us repeatedly. We cannot do any of this without the generous support from everyone in our faith community. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! |
